SESSIONS 'A' had an 8-2 win over York RI 'C' to go further ahead in division one of Focus Fireplaces York and District Table Tennis League.
Mick Wilcockson was unbeaten for Sessions and was well supported by Nigel Thorn and Gary Marshall who won two each.
York RI 'A's 8-2 win over Poppleton 'A' with Doug Bartle unbeaten takes them into third place just behind Bootham CC 'A'.
Strensall 'A' won a close match with York University, with Rob Brown the star students' player with three wins.
Groves Associates 'A' got much needed points with an 8-2 win over Nestl Rowntree 'A'. Alfie Potter played well to win all three for Groves, while Jill Schofield again won all the points for Nestl.
In division two Groves Associates 'B' are now 19 points in front of Bootham CC 'B' who had a 6-4 win over Groves 'C'. Richard Ingleby won all three for Bootham.
In third place Strensall 'B' were well beaten by York RI 'D' for whom John Elliott was unbeaten.
Bootham CC 'C' continue to dominate division three, Bob Plant won all three for them as they beat York RI 'E' 7-3. Joe Teale played well for RI to win two. Poppleton 'D' are in second place, but they went down 6-4 to Coneysthorpe 'B', all the Coneysthorpe won two each and Richard Collier won all three for Poppleton.
York Police beat the much-improved RI 'F' 6-4 with three wins coming from Cliff Edens. Gareth Bryning was back on form as Bootham CC 'C' beat Strensall 'D' 6-4.
Groves 'D' are still leading division four after they had a match given and then beat Shepherds 'D' 6-4. Richard Day won all three for Shepherds.
Second-placed Nestl Rowntree 'C' are two points behind after they beat Norwich Union 'B' 6-4 with only two players. Richard Falkingham won all three for Nestl and Tracey Sleet had a good win over Peter Thompson 21-18 16-21 21-17. They then had a 7-3 win over York RI 'G' for whom Stephen Robinson won all three.
York RI 'G' stayed up with the leaders with a 10-0 win over bottom team, Poppleton 'E'.
