THREE out of five stars for the 'old' days. This is Trems' entire post-Brian Poole recording career.
Many of the tracks make for cringe-listening with their embarrassingly banal lyrics on songs such as Blessed, What A State I'm In and The Right Time. But they pale into insignificance in the face of the equally simplistic, yet catchy, Good Day Sunshine penned by The Beatles, Here Comes My Baby, Even The Bad Times Are Good, Suddenly You Love and their version of The Four Seasons' Silence Is Golden. Formed in Essex in the late Fifties with lead singer Brian Poole, The Trems were at the forefront of the Brit beat explosion of the early Sixties. Poole and the band split in 1966 but the band survived in various forms until 1983. Here we have 54 songs to remember The Trems by. Some still stand the test of time while others are so bad they will have you muttering: "Thank God they don't write 'em like that any more." Then again, these days we have pap from no-mark boy and babe bands.
