THREE paintings by murdered York backpacker Caroline Stuttle are now being hung in York College's sixth form library.
The paintings, depicting white lilies, were created by Caroline, 19, while she was studying A-level art at the college. They were found in one of the art rooms after her death in Bundaberg, Australia, last April. After being mounted and hung, they were presented to the college yesterday by Caroline's mother, Marjorie, on behalf of Caroline's Rainbow Foundation. Mrs Stuttle said: "I hope they will serve as a long-lasting memory of her and an inspiration to future students. I would also like to thank the college staff and students for their help and support over the past few months, especially in setting up Caroline's Rainbow Foundation, which is aimed at helping young travellers abroad, should they find themselves in distress."
Caroline's former psychology tutor at the college, Jo Taylor, said: "Caroline was an excellent student - academically minded and intelligent, but also very creative and lively, which is reflected beautifully in her paintings."
Prints of the paintings are available at £10 for a single print, or £25 for three, in aid of the foundation. Write to Caroline's Rainbow Foundation, PO Box 216, York, YO42 4WZ, phone 01759 304425, or email to contact@carolinesrainbowfoundation.com
