York City Rowing Club's men's junior members were in good form at the Boston Head of the River Races.
Matthew Noble also showed style in winning the men's J15 event in a time of 12 minutes 18 seconds while Joe Lyons comfortably moved into J18 status.
The J15 pair of Noble and Simon Woodfine also went on to win their first event as a crew, in a time of 11 mins 10 secs, only 15 seconds behind the men's novice pair from York City who also won their category.
Sixteen YCRC crews took part at Boston, including a powerful performance from the men's senior three four, who rowed above their status, only missing out on first place by two seconds and came fifth overall. The men's senior three eight, came home in a time of nine mins 35secs to finish third overall.
The next event for YCRC crews will be Head of the Nene on the February 1 when the women's and men's eights will get a first taste of their opposition for the up and coming Head of the Rivers race on the Thames in March.
