A MOTORIST who died after his car crashed into a tree on a country road near York has given the gift of life to others.
Simon Lowery, 20, of Denison Road, Pocklington, died on Monday at Leeds General Infirmary, four days after the accident at Elvington.
His mother, Tula, said today that a number of his organs had been used to help seven other people.
She said her son had expressed a wish when he was younger to allow his organs to be used for transplantation in the event of his death.
She said Simon had been a pupil at Melbourne Primary School and then Woldgate School in Pocklington.
After leaving school, he had gone to work for York Mailing Ltd, a printing firm based at Elvington Airfield. He had a girlfriend, Becky, and a sister, Leanne.
She said the funeral was due to take place at 1pm next Wednesday at Pocklington Church, with a plate collection for Leeds General Infirmary.
A York Mailing spokesman said today that directors and staff had learned with great sadness of Simon's death, following the accident in Elvington last week.
"Simon was a hard-working, trusted and valued member of the York mailing team, who was well-liked by all.
"He will be missed by all of his colleagues and friends."
