A YORK school is set to be awash with colour this spring after more than 500 bulbs and seven trees were planted.
Pupils at Archbishop Holgate's School helped to plant the bulbs and trees at a ceremony held on Monday.
The planting was funded partly by former pupils and was aimed at fulfilling the school's citizen millennium pledge which was to keep the area green.
Head teacher John Harris said former pupils and members of the York-based Archbishop Holgate Association and the London-based Archbishop Holgate Society had contributed to the fund.
Kathryn Austin, from Smith and Nephew, which has formed close links with the school, also attended to help with the planting.
