UNIVERSITY of York students are appealing for help with transport for their annual Rag Procession.
Hundreds of students are set to take to the streets of York on February 8 in fancy dress to help raise money for the Lord Mayor's charities, SNAPPY and Shop Mobility York.
Organisers of the event have approached a number of companies to provide transport for the students from the university to the city centre, but with no luck.
The rag president, Roly Humphreys, said: "This year's procession is in danger of falling prey to serious problems as numerous approaches to companies have failed to secure any transport to take students from the university into town, and back again. York RAG is now issuing a plea for help to anyone who may be able to lend transport for the day,"
Buses and coaches are needed from midday and would be free to leave from around 3.30pm.York Rag is a student organisation which raises money throughout the year. The rag week, from February 8 to 16, is the main source of fundraising.
Anyone who can help should contact Roly Humphreys or Eleanor Murch on 01904 433725.
