A PLAN to build nine houses at a farm in a village near York has sparked parking concerns from villagers.
Whitfield Homes has submitted an application to develop land at Laburnum Farm, in Main Street, Hessay. Planning councillors at City of York Council are to consider the scheme, for what is currently a dairy farm, on January 28.
Hessay Parish Council has raised a number of objections to the plan, including fears that the development is too large and prominent.
But Stuart Cariss, parish council chairman, said its biggest concern was inadequate parking.
He said: "Being realistic, we are not totally against the plans. Our biggest concern is the possible parking problems. Most recent developments in the village have caused parking problems. It is obvious to us that the guidelines regarding parking spaces are not adequate. That is our main concern."
