MUSIC from television adverts will be the unusual theme of Stape Silver Band's next concert, which takes place early next month.
Entitled Commercial Breakdown, the performance will take place at St Peter's Church, in Norton, on Friday, February 7, at 7.30pm.
The music will be interspersed with readings of poetry by David Goodwin, from Helmsley Arts Centre.
Tickets cost £4 each, or £2.50 for children, including light refreshments. Tickets are likely to be available on the door, though they can be purchased in advance from Malton Post Office, members of the band or by phoning 01751 472224.
The band is also organising an evening for romantics. On Friday, February 14, there will be a Valentine's dance at Pickering Memorial Hall, starting at 8pm.
Music will be from Night Owl and will include waltzes, jazz and country and western music. Tickets, costing £6 each, including supper, are available from band members or by phoning 01751 477398.
Stape Silver Band is also preparing for its appearance in the area finals of the national brass band championships which will take place in Darlington on March 15. The winner and runner-up will go on to the national finals.
