YORK maintained their victorious progress in Yorkshire One with a 28-3 win over Wheatley Hill.
The score indicates a comfortable games for York but their Doncaster opposition was a tough outfit who found York a bit too sprightly in the early stages but assumed increasing dominance as the game progressed.
Winger Nick Kay hurtled in at the corner for a try after five minutes to put York in front and the lead was doubled as Kiwi hooker, John Sharpe forced his way over.
Hills pulled themselves back into the game with a penalty from Simon Bailey, but they were made to pay when York fly-half Mark Roberts intercepted in his own half and put Simon Cavey away to score.
Kay added a penalty and then converted Sharpe's second try for a 25-3 lead at the break.
To say York were under constant siege in the second half would be an exaggeration but they saw little enough of the opposition posts.
However, York's defence held firm and the half's only score fell in the last minute to Kay who converted a penalty.
Selby were undone in the eighth-minute of injury time as they went down 19-17 to Pontefract.
Tries from Dave Batty, Paul Gabel and Martin Bramley, plus a Toby Pemberton conversion, had seen Selby enter the dying moments 17-12 in front, only for Ponte to snatch the spoils with an 88th-minute converted try.
