A FAMOUS face from Bootham Crescent reckons York City fans should be inspired by their York City Knights counterparts as they look to save their club, writes Peter Martini.
Minstermen mascot Yorkie was at Huntington Stadium yesterday cheering on the Knights among an official group from the York City Supporters' Trust.
As reported by the Evening Press, the Knights had agreed to give a donation from the gate receipts to the Supporters' Trust and at the match a raffle was also held in its aid.
Purred Yorkie: "We're massively pleased the Knights have helped out financially.
"The enthusiasm these people have shown has been tremendous and we as a Trust have been lifted by it in our fight to save City.
"It was a fantastic game. We will be coming again definitely. I was mightily impressed.
"More importantly it's days like today that show that greedy individuals will never kill the spirit of the sporting public of York. They won't beat us."
