I WAS surprised to see a photograph in the Evening Press, showing traffic laws being blatantly broken, particularly since the national press had reported a police crackdown on the use of motorised scooters received as Christmas presents.
You show a "motor vehicle" being driven on the pavement without a registration plate and tax disc and hence any insurance cover will be invalidated (January 13). The "rider" is not wearing the legally required protective helmet and may not have the "motorcycle entitlement" validated on her driving licence.
However, if we were to add another wheel then this vehicle would become an eight mph invalid carriage and could be legally driven by a non-licence holder amongst pedestrians!
This is a tongue-in-cheek comment but people convicted of these offences add to the statistics that depict real powered two wheeler riders as lawbreakers. Thank goodness she was not wearing a dark visor!
