BURGLARS raided a luxury home in Sherburn-in-Elmet and stole a pilot's licence and hundreds of pounds worth of goods.

The intruders broke into the house through the kitchen window and searched the property in Lennerton Lane.

They then went on to ransack a hangar belonging to the property, which houses an aeroplane, helicopter and car.

A black handbag containing bank cards and 300 euros, a pilot's licence, a Stihl saw, a red petrol lawnmower and a petrol strimmer were stolen.

The burglars also took a white child's motorbike scrambler, a khaki coloured container with 25 litres of red diesel and numerous bottles of gin, vodka and liqueurs.

The raiders fled from the scene by escaping over a neighbour's wall.

A Stihl saw was stolen from a steel container at Hurricane Close, Sherburn-in-Elmet, on Tuesday night. Thieves made a getaway with tyres and hazard lights.

Four tyres, worth £175, and hazard lights labelled S and S haulage, worth £100, were stolen from a garage in Old Great North Road, Brotherton.
