PROMPTED by the remarks of Heather Causnett (January 11), I sat in front of the telly and, with my brain in neutral, I watched EastEnders.

Never in the field of human "entertainment", has so much misery, conflict and sheer bunkum been expended by so few for so many.

This miserable soap-opera is the personification of absolute garbage.

Macbeth had this tripe in mind when he said: "It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

If you find yourself hooked on this abomination you are strongly advised to seek the advice of the nearest head-banger.

Robert Holmes,

Thorganby,

York.
