Acomb 1st X1 returned to action only to lose 2-1 at home to Huddersfield.
The hosts started fairly strongly but sadly conceded an early goal from a tight angle.
After spurning several chances Acomb levelled in the second-half through Dave Richardson.
However, hopes of a home success were dashed. A contentious short corner decision against Acomb led to two more short corners in succession, the third of which sealed Acomb's fate as Huddersfield flicked their second goal into the roof of the net.
Also beaten 2-1 were Acomb 2nds, their second loss of the season suffered against Huddersfield 7ths.
There were mixed fortunes for Acomb women's first X1.
In their first outing after the winter break they perished 2-1 to Halifax 1sts. Poor defending yielded the lead for Halifax before Kerry Rafton equalised against the run of play. An opportunist goal in the final three minutes secured the points for Halifax. Vicky Burden was man of the match.
Acomb refused to be thrown off their stride and returned to form, beating hosts Batley 1-0 in their second round Yorkshire Cup tie.
Fine goalkeeping by Holly Fisher kept the Acomb goal intact and then midway through the first half they struck the decisive blow after fine interplay between Wendy Watson and Jenna Brooke.
With Danielle Courtine and Vicky Burden bossing midfield, Batley could only manage to create chances on the break.
But it was Acomb who nearly scored in the dying seconds when Courtine's fine strike was flicked away by the diving 'keeper at full stretch.
