Selby maintained their push for promotion with an uneventful 8-0 victory over North Ribblesdale in Yorkshire One.

The first half was devoid of many chances as both sides cancelled each other out, and although Selby did step up the pace towards the break it was the hosts who had the best chance to open the scoring, but McGoerch's penalty effort went wide.

After the break, Selby found themselves under the cosh as North Ribb pinned them into their own half, but the Settle side failed to take advantage of their concerted spell of pressure.

And just after the hour, Selby broke away for skipper Jason Cicero to crash over for a try.

Seven minutes from time, Martin Bramley put the result beyond doubt with an intelligent, rare drop goal.

Selby should really have gone on then to cement their superiority with more points but despite periods of intense pressure no further scores were added.

Following several inspections throughout the morning and a final one at 1.15pm Harrogate's National Two match against Stourbridge was postponed until Saturday, February 15.

Freezing overnight temperatures meant the part of the ground in the shadow of the main stand refused to soften despite the midday sunshine and the second team pitch was also considered unsafe for play.

Malton and Norton's trip to Skipton in Yorkshire Two was also postponed because of the weather.

No date for the rearranged clash has been announced due to Malton's commitments in the Powergen Junior Vase.

The Gannock-based side are due to take on Bradford Salem in the last 16 this weekend.
