A SCHEME to upgrade a waste water pumping station near Tadcaster has been completed.
The improvements to the pumping station in Church Street, Church Fenton, will be of environmental benefit to the water course in the area, known as Carr Dike.
The project is part of Yorkshire Water's £400 million programme to
upgrade inland sewage works, storm overflows and sewers.
Yorkshire Water's project manager, David Parkin, said: "This is a small part of a major project to reduce the risk of discharge entering the river, should there be a pumping station failure.
"Our business is to improve the environment and not harm it. The new
measures we have put in place will help us achieve this."
