BRENT Terry tore the home defence apart with a four goals as Pocklington won 5-1 at Dunnington to back to the top of Leeper Hare York and District League premier division.
It was one of only two premier division games which survived the icy weather, though fog threatened to bring it to a premature end.
A mistake by the Dunnington 'keeper gave Terry his first opportunity after only five minutes. A few minutes later Andy Green slipped through the home defence to make it 2-0.
Dunnington pressed hard and had most of the possession but could not produce the quality play needed to break through a well organised Pocklington defence.
Terry produced the best goal of the game for his side's third as he raced past three defenders to chip the ball past the Dunnington 'keeper.
Early in the second half Terry bagged the fourth from a tight angle and the Dunnington defence went walkabout, leaving him with only the 'keeper to beat for the fifth.
Dunnington rallied late in the game and Grant Tolworthy managed a consolation goal when he headed home with 15 minutes remaining.
The win takes Pocklington back to the top of the table on goal difference over Dringhouses.
Malton Bacon Factory remain in touch with the top as they gave Nestl Rowntree a lesson in football by winning 8-1 at Mille Crux.
Simon Collins opened the scoring after only six minutes and Darryl Craggs added another five minutes later.
Nigel Allen then struck two before half-time and another three in the first ten minutes of the second half to put the game beyond the home side, who had squandered several scoring chances in the first 45 minutes.
Collins made it eight with 15 minutes remaining and James Vine managed a consolation for Rowntree ten minutes from time.
Copmanthorpe slipped down two places in division one after losing 3-1 away to Post Office.
After a blank first half Mark Flood robbed a defender and put Copmanthorpe in front, but their lead was short lived as Alex Livey produced a tremendous shot to equalise.
The Postmen then took control and bagged two more from Rich Wills and Mike Heels.
Haxby & Wigginton returned to winning ways with a 5-2 win at South Bank. Mark Belleh netted both the South Bank goals.
Andy Farley, Martin Wood, David Piggott and David Turnbull were the successful strikers as St John's College beat Norwich Union 4-0.
Barmby Moor held Heslington to 1-1 in division two to claim a valuable point. John Thornton struck for Heslington after half an hour, but Gavin Young produced a solo effort to equalise with 15 minutes remaining.
Poppleton United snatched a last-minute equaliser at Church Fenton to deny White Horse their first win of the season.
Dan Adams gave Poppleton the lead in the tenth-minute, but then they conceded an own goal and the sides turned round on level terms.
Nigel Chester put White Horse into the lead ten minutes into the second half but substitute Charlie Jackson levelled matters midway through the half.
Les Hayles looked to have won the game for White Horse when he scored with the game already into stoppage time, but Matt Woodcock had other ideas as he scored in the last minute to take a point for Poppleton.
In Reserve 'A', South Bank's home game with Kartiers survived the bad weather but they went down 4-0.
In Reserve 'B' Wigginton Black Horse won at Copmanthorpe with two first half goals from Angus Clapham and Stephen Pearson. The home side managed one after the break through a Brian Mears penalty.
Civil Service were two up by half time with goals from John Hampton (penalty) and Dominic Barry, but the home side, Haxby & Wigginton, bounced back with goals from Chris Watkinson and Ross Tyman to tie the match.
All the surviving Reserve 'C' games were close affairs. Norton took the lead at LNER Builders, but a Mark Rollinson equaliser ensured a share of the points.
Two goals from veteran Mick Tiplady won the points for Thorpe United in a 2-1 win, with Robert Blake scoring for opponents Nestle Rowntree. Stillington overcame Fulford by the same margin.
Dave McCafferty and George Burgess were their marksmen before Sean Cade managed a goal for Fulford.
