I THANK all our supporters and volunteers who gave so unstintingly of their time over the past year to enable the Alzheimer's Society to support all those with dementia and their carers in the York area.

We are very grateful to people who contributed to three collections and raised £934 in May; £291 in July and £650 in November.

Gill Myers,

Acting branch manager, York branch of Alzheimer's Society,

The Retreat,

York, Y010 5BN.

...ON behalf of the homeless and disadvantaged people who breakfast with us at Carecent, I express our gratitude for all the gifts we have recently received.

The actions of unknown persons who cared, demonstrating their concern by wrapping a present, was greatly appreciated. Some gifts were labelled from "a well wisher", others were endorsed simply with "God bless".

We know a few of the sources, but many were anonymous. I assure the donors that their kindness is very much appreciated.

Alan Wright,

Project leader,

Carecent at Central Methodist Church,

St Saviourgate, York.

...ONCE again a big thank you to the committee of Rawcliffe (York) Recreation Centre for the very enjoyable party they provided for local pensioners on January 4. Transport was provided to and from the venue where necessary. We were greeted with sherry or wine and when everyone had arrived a very enjoyable two-course lunch.

There followed musical quizzes, dancing and suitable games and everyone went home with a present. Thank you for all the hard work.

Lilian Bramfitt,

Lawnswood Drive, York.
