YORK City Knights fans and officials will be keeping a close eye on the weather tonight hoping the forecast freezing temperatures do not lead to another postponement.
The club's long-awaited first game, against Wakefield at Huntington Stadium tomorrow, is subject to an 11.30am pitch inspection.
Last week's friendly against Oldham had to be postponed due to a frozen surface, and the club are desperate this one goes ahead to give the players game-time before the season proper kicks off next week.
The club had been investigating the possibility of bringing in covers to protect the pitch from the elements tonight, but if this is not possible the match would be in the lap of the gods.
The official weather forecast is for temperatures to drop as low as -2 degrees overnight, suggesting a frost is possible, with rain and temperatures up to 5 degrees tomorrow.
Fans are reminded admission tomorrow is pay on the gate only (£8 adults, £5 concessions).
