A COBBLED path leading to an Easingwold play area will be replaced by tarmac thanks to a cash windfall.
Persimmon Homes have given Easingwold Town Council £20,000 towards the upkeep and maintenance of the popular Claypenny play area following completion of the new housing estate.
Parents had complained the path was unsuitable for prams and pushchairs. Work will now start on replacing the surface in a matter of weeks.
"This money will help us maintain the area over the next few years," said the Mayor of Easingwold, Diane Gallon.
"Play equipment does get damaged through wear and tear and it is costly to replace. It's a well used play area and we spent a lot of time putting it together."
