SCORES of dancers will be gathering in York Minster this month to dance in the Nave which has been cleared of its chairs. They will be dancing to live music from members of the Silver Circle Band, who will be playing dance tunes from France and Macedonia, plus medieval and gipsy music.
York dance teacher Karen Michaelsen will be exploring the Tree of Life motif, plus dance symbols of the circle and spiral.
She said: "Everybody is welcome, including beginners. The dances are easy to learn and the Nave, empty of its chairs, is a magnificent space to dance in."
The South Transept door will be open from 6.30pm on Saturday, January 11. The doors will be locked at 7pm, when the dancing will begin, until 9pm. Admission is by donation. Dancers are advised to wear warm clothing.
