THE Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope, was loudly applauded after offering the support of the General Synod to the incoming Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.
The new Archbishop has been attacked by some evangelical groups within the Church of England for his public stance on issues relating to sex and relationships.
Dr Hope said that many of the decisions relating to York and North Yorkshire would be reported back at the next meeting of the Diocesan Synod.
