YORK landlords who let to students are being invited to the launch of a new code of practice next week.
The voluntary code, prepared by representatives from the Landlords' Association, the educational institutions, Safer York Partnership, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and City of York Council, will promote good accommodation standards for student properties in the city.
The code will be launched at the University of York on Wednesday next week.
Ruth Abbot, principal environmental health officer with the council, said: "Landlords and letting agents are being invited to attend the launch at Central Hall, University of York, between 2pm and 7.30pm.
"Copies of the new code will be available free of charge and there will be a variety of experts on hand to offer advice on letting properties and safety standards."
