ROBERT Wilkinson School, Strensall, won a tense York Cade Trophy Six-a-Side finals at Clifton Green.

They will now represent the city, with runners-up Clifton Without, at the North Yorkshire finals which will be held in York on Saturday, November 9.

It was a nerve-wracking afternoon and as the final two games were played simultaneously Hempland, Clifton Without and Westfield were all on nine points with Robert Wilkinson on 11.

Clifton beat Riverside 2-1 to secure second place and Robert Wilkinson drew 0-0 with Westfield in a tense game to secure the top of the table spot.

Queen Margaret's county aces

NINE pupils at Queen Margaret's School, Escrick, have been selected for the Yorkshire Schools' lacrosse team.

It is a sport in which Queen Margaret's have a solid tradition, and it has now been continued by Kate Mcleary, Anne Fitzpatrick, Tessa Machin and Elizabeth Greenwood, who are in the county 'A' team.

Hattie Jackson, Bella Lowes, Nicola Beale, Jackie Coward and Elizabeth Hogkinson were chosen for the 'B' team.
