A STAR-studded cast is set to take the stage at York's big Christmas lights switch-on at a new venue in front of the Minster.

York's very own Stacey Ace will be making an appearance at Duncombe Place, on November 21, along with a host of celebrities.

Those also set to take the stage include pantomime celebrities, a top player from the Barbican-hosted UK Snooker Championship and York's British Touring Car champion, James Thompson.

The turn-on has previously taken place in Parliament Street, but has been moved for health and safety reasons and to allow more room for the ceremony. Project manager Mark Brayshaw said: "We have not been able to do the large show that York deserves. The new location will allow us to host a bigger and better show."

Teenage pop starlet Stacey will be giving the first live performance of her song All In The Moves.

No single celebrity will flick the switch, instead all will place a hand on a large lever to officially start Yuletide in York.
