CARING staff at a York building society put their hands in their pockets to raise cash to help the fight against cancer.
Workers at Halifax Building Society, in Davygate, held a series of fundraising events to find £784 for York Against Cancer.
Fundraisers got their hands dirty by washing cars, taking part in a quiz night and holding a raffle to help the charity, which gives money to places like the Cancer Care Unit at York District Hospital.
Halifax said it would double the amount raised by staff, meaning a cheque for £1,568 will be winging its way to help cancer patients. Amanda Laycock said: "We went to visit the unit. It was nice to see where the money will be going. Obviously, we were very pleased to have raised so much money."
