HEATHER Welsh was in spectacular form for New Earswick Swimming Club at the Ennerdale Graded Meet in Hull.

She successfully spearheaded the club's triple assault on the Skinz knockout 50m freestyle final and collected a £150 swimwear voucher.

Together with club-mates Lucy Gould and Ellen Clark, Welsh qualified for the final in style and it proved to be the climax to a great day for the three 15-year-olds who won three trophies each.

They enjoyed a clean sweep of the 50m backstroke, with Gould first, Welsh second and Clark third. Gould also won trophies in the 100m backstroke and 50m. freestyle with Welsh second in the same events and first in the 100m freestyle.

Clark won the 50m butterfly and was second in the 50m breastroke. Eleven-year-old Jenny Welsh won the 100m breastroke and 50m freestyle, but collected a "speeding ticket" in the 50m breaststroke for exceeding the grade time.

Sarah Beall landed the 12 years 50m butterfly and finished third in the 50m backstroke.

In the 13 years events, Sarah Welsh touched first in the 50m butterfly and finished second in the 50m freestyle. Emily Broadbent came second in the 100m butterfly and freestyle and third in the 100m backstroke.

The New Earswick boys squad also had some success with 11-year-old Daniel Richards winning the 100m breaststroke and coming second in the 100m backstroke.

Andrew Clapham, 13, and 15-year-old Mark Baldry were close to the 'Top Boy' award with five trophies each. Clapham won the 50m and 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle, finished second in the 50m freestyle and third in the 50m breaststroke.

Baldry won three events (100m breastroke, butterfly and individual), was second in the 50m backstroke and third in the 100m freestyle.
