YORK City named a strong reserve team for this afternoon's Avon Insurance League division one (east) clash with Boston United at Bootham Crescent (kick-off 2pm).

There was good news on the injury front for manager Terry Dolan, with both Scott Jones (pictured right) and Alex Mathie set to play after being ruled out over recent weeks with groin and heel problems respectively.

After knee and groin worries, defender Stuart Wise was also named among the substitutes for this afternoon's clash indicating the youngster is approaching full fitness.

It leaves only Christian Fox and Richard Cooper as members of the senior squad still out of first or reserve team action.

The duo are still recovering from long term knee injuries - Cooper has been out since pre-season while Fox has not featured in the first team since the opening game - but have now returned to full training and should be in contention for place in the reserves soon.

The entire bench from Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Southend were all given starting roles this afternoon, including Graham Potter and Jon Parkin, who both made substitute appearances at Roots Hall.

Second-choice goalkeeper Russ Howarth was not included as he returns from England Under-21 duty.

Howarth missed out on his first Under-21 cap last night as David Platt's side beat Macedonia 3-1 at Reading's Madejski Stadium.

Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland pulled muscle in his back forcing his withdrawal midway through the first-half.

With Howarth not named among the substitutes, he was replaced by Wolves' Matt Murray, who had played in Slovakia when Kirkland was sidelined with a neck problem.

Star of the show for England was Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers, who blasted a hat-trick in the European Championship qualifier.
