THE Lord Mayor of York, Coun David Horton, is framed through the glass panel of a classroom door, at the opening of a new purpose-built Quaker school.
Ebor School, which was formerly at Clifton Green, is the junior department of Bootham School.
Donated land has enabled the school to construct a purpose-built school at a new site in Rawcliffe Lane.
The building was officially opened by the chairman of the Bootham's Old Scholars Association, David Allan.
Head teacher of Ebor School, Valerie Tildesley, said she was delighted with the new school.
She said: "This is just what we needed, a school built to our own specification. It's still got the homely feel which is really the Ebor hallmark but now there's so much more scope for campus-based activities.
"There was a real buzz of excitement on the very first day and that has just kept on building."
