YORK students are among fewer than 2,000 pupils to have their A and AS-level grades improved as a result of a government exam regrading investigation.
A handful of pupils at Fulford School had their A-level grades increased following the mammoth regrade operation.
University places for the Fulford students who received increased grades were not effected.
The final number of 1,943 upgrades nationally is far lower than expected and only a tiny percentage of those papers sent back to the exam boards for regrading - with only 1,220 A-level students and 733 AS- level students hit.
All of the changes are understood to have come from the Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations board (OCR), with none from the other two boards.
Fulford head teacher Stephen Smith said he believed the problem was caused by the amount of exam students were forced to sit.
He said: "Where do they get the examiners from? All this pressure has resulted in the problems."
