A SCENE from York's past was recreated in the city as St Leonard's Hospice launched its new fundraising calendar.
Each month on the 2003 calendar shows an old picture of York from the Evening Press archives.
One shows soldiers in 1937 marching into the Picture House in Coney Street, now a WH Smith store.
To echo that scene WH Smith sales assistant Joe Haining dressed in 1937 Green Howards uniform and marched past the store.
Other pictures in the calendar include Pavement in 1884, Water End at Clifton in 1919,Spurriergate in the 1950s and Station Road in 1960.
Hospice spokeswoman Judith Wilson said: 'These pictures give a fascinating glimpse of York over almost 120 years, showing how much has changed - and how much remains the same, too."
The calendar costs £3.50 and, with the Hospice Christmas Cards, is available from St Leonard's Hospice Shops in Tang Hall, Pocklington, Haxby and Acomb.
It can also be purchased from the hospice reception in Tadcaster Road and from Barnitt's in Colliergate and Jackie Riley, Chemist, in Bishopthorpe.
