DAVE Gibbons recorded 180 in a fine 15 dart game as Cygnet 'A' beat Leeman 'A' 7-2 in York John Smith's Mixed League Division One.

Golden Slipper 'B' registered a 116-finish for 18 darts from Paul Partridge and 21 by Barry Noble but Cue Ball, with Pete Leake out in 21, won 6-3.

Cygnet 'B' had Mark Hartley shooting 18 darts but their 'D' side struck back to win the decider with Paula Sowden-Paul Botterill.

Bay Horse, Murton, beat Blacksmith's 5-4, Angela Forth-Kelvin Young taking the last game, while Cygnet 'C' and Collingwood, at Vaults and Three Tuns respectively, each won 8-1.

York Unique-Phoenix League champions Shepherd SC suffered defeat to Bishopthorpe in their new division one campaign.

Shepherd were 3-0 down before Paul Botterill closed a splendid 16 darts to give a glimmer of hope. Arthur Conyers took the match decider against Chas Ramsden, who included a 20-darter. Mick Willsen's 114-finish for 18 came too late against Bishopthorpe's Tony Raymond who notched a superb 17-darter.

Newcomers Clifton took all the singles against Slipper whose Steve Reynolds found the tons. John Holmes and Paul Brandon each recorded 21 darts while Graham Sanderson included a notable 19-darter in an emphatic 6-1 win.

Tap 'A' were inspired to a 4-3 win over Holgate WMC with an impressive 19 darts from John Quantock and a good game by John Smith. Pete West hit the tons for Holgate and was well supported by Derrick Hudson.

In division two, Ged McMahon included 18 and 19 darts to spearhead Rose and Crown's victory over Lord Nelson, whose Jeff Twort did well.

Phoenix got their programme of the to the best possible start with a 7-0 whitewash of Red Lion. Sean Robinson and Phil Robinson were outstanding while Sean Singleton was Lion's best player.

Shaun Clappison played well and a 90-check from Tap 'B' team captain Wendy Smith capped a good performance at Sun whose Steve Hawksby-Tim Penwitt provided their only success.

Osbaldwick lost the opener to Pete Langan but then took the remaining singles, including Craig Wedge out in 18 darts, to beat Dringhouses in York John Smith's Men's League division one.

Twenty-one darts by Kelvyn Frankel helped Trafalgar to a 3-0 lead but 21 from Ray McInally sparked a Poacher revival and McInally-Gary Kynman snatched the decider.

Tony Snowdon-Steve Baker tagged on the last of three pairs required by Green Tree 'B' to beat a resolute Slip 'B' while Dave Norris sealed Flag's victory over Shepherd within the singles.

Rose and Crown hopes were high when John Holden's 21-darter disposed of Chris Thompson (180). However, Doug Sutcliffe (180 for 21) put Sun in good stead and Thompson (bull finish)-Tony Cooper closed the match with a marvellous 21-dart 701.

Despite a fine 117-finish from Green Tree 'A' team's Rich Beddows, Swan retained the division two lead.

Pete McNichol included a maximum and Barry McLaughlin shot 21 darts.

Institute 'A' captain Steve Forth (21) showed the way and Pete Watson-Rich Hardy took the decider at Old Ebor while a determined game by Mick Brookes-Derrick Hudson hauled in the aggregate for Holgate at Blacksmith's.

Saddle's win at Cygnet was sealed by Kevin Graham-Noel Cooper.

A maximum by Rich Hipkins, partnering Kevin Richmond Snr, helped Slip Inn to a 5-4 victory over Groves who had their skipper Barry Houlden hitting 180 for 20 darts.
