THE new York and District Table Tennis Association season started with whitewashes for Strensall 'A' over Coneysthorpe 'A' and Bootham CC 'A' over Nestl Rowntree 'A''.
York RI also recorded a 10-0 win over Poppleton 'A' who were without star player Richard Moss.
Poppleton 'B' and York RI 'C' shared the points in a 5-5 draw with Dave Rawlings winning all three for Poppleton.
Relegated Groves Association 'B' were far too strong for BT 'B' winning 10-0, in division two.
Groves Association 'C' beat Strensall 'B' 6-4 despite Bob Young winning all three for Strensall.
Jim Stevenson won all three for BT 'A' in their 7-3 victory over Northern Electric.
Biggest winners in division three were Bootham CC 'C' who beat York RI 'E' 9-1, Bob Plant and Steve Milner each winning three for Bootham. Cliff Edens won all three for Police in their 8-2 win over Strensall 'D'. Shepherds 'B' and York RI 'F' finished all square 5-5 to share the points.
The results were much closer in division four. Nestl Rowntree 'C' beat York RI 'G' 6-4 although RI's Dennis Chapman remained unbeaten.
Three easy wins for Keith Hood enabled Groves Assiation 'D' to beat Shepherds 'D' 6-4. York RI 'I' beat Sessions 'C' 6-4. Player of the night was Hayley Smith who won two and went close to toppling Jeff Brown, losing 21-19-21 23-21.
The best result in the division was an 8-2 triumph by Shepherds 'C' 8-2 over York RI 'J' in which Alan Milner and Teresa Melling clocked up three wins each.
