AS Patron of the Not Old Just Older awards (nojos) for Help the Aged, I ask your readers to nominate that special someone.
These awards particularly interest me because they prove that experience, wisdom and age are invaluable in today's society. This sentiment is shared by many high-profile names who support the awards by judging the nominations -TV presenter and scientist Professor Heinz Wolff, presenting an award, for example - or even attending as a guest such as Sir Anthony Hopkins.
This year, Help The Aged in association with BT begin their nation-wide search for nominations which cover all aspects of life in the following seven categories; Achievement In Sport, Quality Of Life, Outstanding Achievement, Consumer Services, Intergeneration, Schools and International Achievement.
You can place your nomination by obtaining a form from the nojos hotline on 020 7239 1922 or by writing to Emma McSweeney, Help the Aged, 207-221, Pentonville Road, London N1 9UZ. Or e-mail Emma.McSweeney@helptheaged.org.uk. The closing date for nominations is Friday, January 10, 2003.
The nojos stars will be presented with their awards at an elegant ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel, London, on March 19, 2003.
Cherie Booth QC,
Patron, nojos,
Help The Aged,
Pentonville Road, London.
