Comic Peter Kay sold out his show at York Barbican within hours of the tickets going on sale.
It was the Barbican's fastest-selling gig since Robbie Williams played there in 1998. The comedian, whose second series of Phoenix Nights recently ended its Channel 4 run, sold out his show at York Grand Opera House weeks ago, but announced the Barbican date on Tuesday morning.
By mid-morning on Wednesday all the 1,500 tickets had gone and there were rumours of tickets changing hands for £100 on the Internet.
