A GROUP of blushing brides raced along five miles of pathways in York's maize maze in an effort to find Prince Charming.

The brides negotiated the twists and turns of the 10ft pathways to race to the centre of the maze ahead of the Yorkshire Brides 2002 event taking place on October 12 and 13.

They wore pink wigs and pink umbrellas to promote the Cancer Research UK's In The Pink campaign, which aims to raise funds for research into breast cancer.

At the event, taking place at the Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, visitors will be able to join in the wall of hope to pass on personal messages of encouragement to others.

The charity's community fundraiser, Lorna Parsons, said: "We are delighted that Yorkshire Brides is supporting breast cancer awareness month and hope that lots of people join them and have a great time at the show."
