GREEN-FINGERED pop star Kim Wilde tackled the weeds of York District Hospital today in an effort to transform a garden for patients.
The singer, known for hits including Kids in America and Chequered Love, teamed up with graduates from Norwich Union to transform a courtyard at the hospital's maternity unit.
Kim, who heads out on the road on a UK tour in December, took up gardening six years ago and recently completed a planting and design course.
She said: "My interest started when I got married six years ago and I starting making a garden for the children we were planning to have. The subject totally grabbed me and I'm now really obsessed by it."
The garden, which was designed by Holtby-based Trevor Smith Landscapes Limited, was being built as part of a Norwich Union community project.
