THIS is the latest episode in the life of Jewish cop Peter Decker.

Our hero receives a call from his half-brother in New York after a family member is murdered in a seedy Manhattan hotel and his 15-year-old niece goes missing.

Decker flies from Los Angeles to help his half brother; shortly after arriving, he gets the impression he is not wanted.

Stone Kiss weaves a web of deceit and danger across New York, incorporating murder, prostitution and drug smuggling. Decker is only interested in the truth and along the way comes up against bent cops, the mob and an extremely hostile family, who are hiding the truth from their own.

The book takes a while to get going but once into the story, it is hard to put down. You don't need to have read any of the other books about Decker to follow the plot. However, some of the Jewish expressions may be difficult to grasp.
