CHILDREN from a York school helped with a project to transform one of the city's nature parks by planting 10,000 bulbs.
More than 20 Year Five pupils from Tang Hall Primary School took part in the bluebell bulb planting at St Nicholas Fields.
The children, along with volunteers from the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers Vale of York group and Friends of St Nicholas Fields, took part in the event as part of a Barclays SiteSavers project.
The BTCV obtained a grant from Barclays SiteSavers, which is a partnership between Barclays PLC and Groundwork, in March, to transform the area.
The aim is to transform the under-used area of St Nicholas Fields into an area for relaxation, education, and wildlife.
Fiona McCallion, Year Five teacher, said: "They had a great time. A lot of them play on the fields and they were keen to watch the progress of the bulbs and look after their own neighbourhood."
