CHILDREN from Rawcliffe Infants School in York learned about staying safe on the streets with a game of snakes and ladders.

The game was donated by Dixon Motors and is based on the traditional version but with zebra crossings and subways to move up and down.

Year One pupils were given a talk on road safety and introduced to the game by representatives from Dixons as part of National Road Safety Week which started on Monday.

The Year One teacher, Claire Jones, said: "The children really enjoyed it as they tend to enjoy anything like that.

"I think they did bear in mind the message of road safety and I would say it definitely helped them."

The general manager of Dixon Nissan, Pete Dean, said: "We wanted to find an innovative way of educating our younger customers on road safety. This game is an ideal way to get the message across in a fun but informative way."
