PARENTS of children at a York school are making a desperate plea for a lollipop lady - or man - to help their children over a busy road.
The previous school crossing warden at Hob Moor Primary School, in Acomb, was forced to leave in June this year because of ill health. And despite a number of attempts, the council has been unable to recruit a replacement.
Lisa Laverick, of Hob Moor, has one child at the school and also looks after three others so uses the road regularly.
She said: "We thought, as parents, we should be doing something about it because they are our children.
"A lot of the children use that route, and it is very busy as there are parents going to another school as they cannot go another way.
"We are desperate now as this is very important for the safety of our children."
If you can spare a few hours a day phone the City of York Council on 01904 613161.
