Selby Abbey is to remain closed until the weekend in preparation for a television programme.
The abbey has been closed to the public for safety reasons while television crews from BBC's Songs of Praise, who arrived yesterday morning, erect scaffolding, set up lighting and lay cables.
The programme will be filmed on Thursday, but will not be broadcast until Sunday, November 3.
The abbey's business manager, Brian Porter, said it would be reopened to the public at the weekend.
He said: "To make a television programme there has to be an inconvenience, but we are prepared to put up with the inconvenience to raise the profile of Selby Abbey."
