HOLDERS Wendy Stirke and Louise Lister have won the IT Sports Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League Doubles final for the fourth consecutive year.
The league's top seven couples served up some quality tennis, but once more it was Bishopthorpe pairing Stirke and Lister who came out on top in the 13th annual tournament.
They compiled 30 games from their six matches to finish six ahead of their nearest rivals Helen Leach and Christine Place (York).
Jill Schofield and Linda Tennant (Bubwith) were third with 23 games, followed by Julie Reilly and Jackie Heels (Fulford) 21.
Other couples taking part were Di Ekers and Anna Baker (Fulford), Rosie Cantrell and Sue Peach (Poppleton) and Sue Yoward and Fran Critchley (Bishopthorpe).
The Fulford Inviation League's annual dinner is being held at York Racecourse this Friday, September 27 when trophies and awards will be presented.
