THE detective leading the investigation into the murder of prostitute Vicky Glass, whose body was dumped in North Yorkshire, has vowed never to give up the hunt for her killer.

Vicky, 21, who turned to prostitution to feed her heroin addiction, vanished while working the streets in Middlesbrough exactly two years ago today.

Her naked body was discovered six weeks later on a remote part of the North York Moors, at Danby, near Whitby.

No one has been charged with her murder despite a major investigation, which has spanned Scotland to South Yorkshire and even abroad, and seen hundreds of statements taken from Vicky's known clients and long-distance lorry drivers.

Detective Superintendent Brian Dunn, of Cleveland Police, said at a press conference yesterday: "We will continue on, however long it takes, and I am determined to remind people about Vicky Glass. I will not give up.

"At the very least, it is a suspicious death. Until we know the full circumstances, I am conducting a murder hunt. The Glass family have had two years of not knowing what happened. Vicky's family deserve to know."

He warned: "It is extremely worrying that we could have someone out there capable of doing this again."

Det Supt Dunn said he was convinced someone was shielding Vicky's killer and urged them to "examine their conscience" and give Vicky's family the chance to begin the healing process.

"I firmly believe someone out there knows exactly what happened to Vicky and who was responsible for her death. It is not too late for them to come forward and speak to me in complete confidence," he said.
