FORMER Leeds United heroes John Charles and Peter Lorimer, who also played for York City, are to be the speakers at a charity sportsman's dinner in aid of York Corinthian FC.
This club was founded in 1996 to raise money for a school in Mozambique and since then has raised more than £20,000 to build classrooms, accommodation and a sports ground and to provide books and equipment. They have also sponsored a teacher to be trained in England.
The club is aiming to raise £42,000 this year for improving sanitation at the school and to this end have organised the sportsman's dinner for 7.30pm, Friday, November 8, at the Gimcrack Rooms at York Racecourse.
Tickets, costing £35 to include four-course dinner, and reservations are available from Tracey Patrick on 01904 331802. Dress is lounge suits. Company and table bookings are available.
