The Broadband York campaign has kicked off with "drop-ins" at business parks.

Local Telecom Service (LTS) officials were on hand at the Raylor Centre in James Street, York, to answer questions and to demonstrate the super-fast links.

In the afternoon, service provider Pipe Media gave similar advice and demonstrations at the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership (NYBEP) at Aviator Court, Clifton.

Today there was a seminar at Bedern Hall, near Aldwark, conducted by Gareth Owens, of Gareth Owens Communications, the man who translates complex technical talk into simple language.

At the same time, representatives of corporate finance firms, internet software ventures and even a bridalwear shop converged on today's third business park session at Box Tree House on the Northminster Business Park, Poppleton, where LTS again gave advice.

Later today service provider Firstnet was on hand at Regency House at the York Business Park in Nether Poppleton.

Dot Com Imaging, which has been demonstrating satellite broadband daily, will continue on Thursday and Friday at York Riding School on Wigginton Road, but tomorrow afternoon, from 1.15pm, will organise a seminar at York Central Library, titled Ensure Your e-Business Success.

Throughout tomorrow, from 10am to 5pm, the public will be targeted with free half-hour "taster" sessions, trying out the high speed Internet link for themselves at The Gateway Internet Caf, on Swinegate; the Internet Exchange, in Stonegate; and the Oxfam Internet caf, in Micklegate.

A demonstration of Rocket Network software takes place at the Tempest Anderson Hall in Museum Gardens on Thursday, starting at 6pm.

Friday - the final day - offers a "broadband market place", a sort of mini trade fair at the Guildhall in St Helen's Square from 10 am to 5pm, when a dozen local service providers, including BT, will parade their wares.
