I HAVE just become aware of a proposal to develop the area around Clifford's Tower.
How on earth has such a ridiculous idea been allowed to be taken seriously? York is of such importance in the history of Britain that anyone thinking of vandalism of this nature should be charged with treason!
The atmosphere of York is unequalled, and is created in part by the souls of the folk who have lived and died there over the centuries, and by the love of the current custodians and visitors.
Apart from the physical damage development would create, this atmosphere and history would be irreparably harmed.
Please, please, please stop this madness.
