FORMER City of York Council leader Rodney Hills has denied four charges at York Magistrates Court.
The 55-year-old councillor, of York, elected to face a jury trial on a charge that he intimidated witnesses between April 1 and June 19.
Dominic Barry, for the Crown Prosecution Service, withdrew a charge of dangerous driving on May 19 in Blake Street, York, and substituted one of careless driving.
Hills denied the new charge, and charges of wasting police time between February 20 and April 11, and persistently soliciting women for prostitution in the city centre between February 1 and June 19.
All except the charge of witness intimidation will be tried before a magistrates court. Hills was released on bail and will return to York Magistrates Court on October 8 for committal proceedings.
The court hearing was last Thursday, but the Evening Press was only able to publish these details today due to legal reasons.
