THOUSANDS of caravanners descended on Knavesmire, York, today for the annual Northern Motorcaravan Show.
A sea of white covered the racecourse as more than 3,000 mobile homeowners squeezed into the last available spaces for the three-day event. Thousands more were visiting for the day. Leading motorhome dealers had the latest luxury vehicles on display, while visitors were treated to a host of attractions. These included an evening of 60s and 70s music and a musical journey through the West End's top shows. A spokeswoman for the event said: "It has been really busy. We're very pleased with how things have gone so far. The weather has been brilliant." The event also played host to the York heat of the World Tent Pitching Championships, in which competitors aimed to be the swiftest at putting up their pegs and poles.
